THE BUWAN ng Kalutong Pilipino 2026, highlighting the advocacy of preserving culinary traditions and heritage in line with the theme “Connected by Taste: Filipino Food in the Flavors of ASEAN,” will be held from April 24 to 26 at Abreeza Mall in Davao City.

Speaking at the PEP Talks at SM Lanang on Friday, Tanya Rabat-Tanm, Department of Tourism XI regional director, emphasized the importance of the event in promoting food tourism. She highlighted the “farm-to-table” concept, showcasing products from farmers and advocating for the use of often-overlooked backyard fruits such as iba, kamias, santol, atis, and starfruit.

“We are supporting and highlighting them because it is important to know the source of our food. Most importantly, we aim for the preservation of these culinary traditions and to showcase them to the world,” Rabat-Tan said.

The event is in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Department of Agriculture, and various local government units.

Rabat-Tan also highlighted the different activities lined up for Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino 2026, including farm tourism visits and market tours.

She noted the participation of various chefs, along with cooking demonstrations from different LGUs, showcasing the signature dishes of their respective provinces.

“Basically, most of the exhibitors are from the Davao Region, but this is definitely open to everyone,” Rabat-Tan emphasized.

In line with the theme, Malaysia and Indonesia will also have booths featuring Filipino dishes with ASEAN-inspired fusion.

Rabat-Tan encouraged Davaoeños to visit the exhibit and support local farmers, especially to inspire younger generations to appreciate Filipino cultural heritage.
