THE DAVAO Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) XI reported continued progress of flagship transport and logistics infrastructure projects in Southern Mindanao.

RPMC announced the development following its 3rd Quarter 2026 Project Inspection Activity conducted on July 21-23, 2026.

The activity assessed the implementation status of priority projects aimed at improving the Region’s urban mobility, road connectivity, as well as airport and seaport operations.

The Joint Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) – RPMC XI approved the RPMC XI 3rd Quarter 2026 Project Inspection Report during its Joint 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting on September 3.

Among the projects monitored were the expansion of the Passenger Terminal Building at Davao International Airport logged 38.17 percent physical accomplishment.

“The ongoing expansion is expected to increase passenger handling capacity and improve airport facilities, further reinforcing Davao Region’s role as a major gateway in Mindanao,” RPMC reported.

Meanwhile, the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP) posted an overall weighted physical accomplishment of 7.53 percent as of June 30, 2026.

The modernization project aims to establish a modern, efficient, and environmentally sustainable public transport system for Davao City.

The Davao Sasa Port, on the other hand, continues operation under the Port Terminal Management Regulatory Framework following the turnover of port operations to Globalport Davao Terminal, Inc.

The intervention aimed at improving cargo handling efficiency and increasing port productivity to strengthen the region’s maritime logistics capabilities.

The IDC-RPMC XI also endorsed the proposed construction of the Quimpo Flyover in Davao City with an indicative cost of P2.4 billion.

The flyover is eyed to complement the existing six-lane roadway and help alleviate traffic congestion and support increasing transport demand in Davao City.

The Infrastructure Sector Component of the FY 2028 Annual Investment Program for Davao Region was also endorsed during the meeting.

The sector has programmed a total of 1,058 programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) with an aggregate investment target of PHP 190.58 billion for FY 2028.

The sector said these investments are expected to contribute to the achievement of 55 infrastructure-related indicators monitored by the RDC XI, aligned with the region’s development priorities.

“The sustained implementation of major transport and infrastructure projects, coupled with strategic investment programming, remains essential in advancing Davao Region’s long-term goal of becoming an internationally competitive logistics hub in Mindanao,” the IDC-RPMC XI emphasized.
