THE BUREAU of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI donated confiscated frozen tuna blood meat to 189 beneficiaries in Davao City.
Frozen tuna bloodmeat–totaling 1,681 cartons or equivalent to 21,012.50 kilograms–was distributed through the agency’s Fisheries Inspection and Quarantine Unit (FIQU).
The beneficiaries included fisherfolk associations, Project Lawa and Binhi associations, barangays in the Paquibato and Marilog Districts, and residential care facilities in Davao City.
“This initiative ensured that confiscated fishery products that remain fit for human consumption were redirected to communities in need, particularly fisherfolk groups and residential care facilities,” BFAR XI said in a statement.
“It also demonstrates BFAR XI’s continued commitment to enforcing fishery regulations while promoting food security and supporting local communities,” the agency added.
BFAR XI reported the shipment originated from China and was inspected on January 10, 2026, with an estimated value of ₱2,101,250. The shipment was found to have violated importation regulations.
The inspection was conducted in accordance with the BFAR memorandum dated December 2022 on the strict compliance with importation rules
The distribution and inspection activities were carried out through the collaborative efforts of BFAR XI’s FIQU, Enforcement and Regional Monitoring, Control and Surveillance Operations Center, Davao City Fisheries Office, and the City Agriculture Office of Davao City.
