THE CITY Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) announced on Monday that the annual financial assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs) will roll out on July 17.
CSWDO head Julie Dayaday said about 45,000 PWDs are qualified to receive the annual financial assistance.
“Mag-launch ta kini nga programa, i-atol nato sa National Disability Rights Week,” Dayaday said during an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio.
The CSWDO is coordinating with the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) to process the payroll.
Dayaday clarified that a select number of beneficiaries in Poblacion will be provided during the launch on July 17, and the payout proper will be done on schedule.
“Paklaro lang gyud ko nga naa ray pipila diri sa Poblacion kay duol man, pero pareho gihapon sa senior citizen, mag-adto ta kauban sa City Treasurer’s Office sa matag barangay,” she said.
Family members of the beneficiaries are advised to check the Facebook page of CSWDO or PDAO for the schedule per barangay.
To note, the City Council approved on final reading the ordinance providing annual financial assistance of P1,500 to all qualified PWDs last Sept. 30, 2025.
The first rollout of the PWD subsidy will have the same amount as the seniors’ subsidy, with the possibility of increasing in succeeding distributions.
Dayaday clarified that the subsidy for senior citizens was adjusted from P1,500 to P2,000 for 2026.
One of the requirements will include a certificate of residency of at least three years, aside from the PWD ID issued by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office.
For the mentally disabled and those who are bedridden, family members or guardians can represent them to receive assistance on their behalf.
Proponent councilor Lorenzo Benjamin Villafuerte said the financial assistance will be for all PWDs, regardless of status and severity of disability, apparent or non-apparent.
