LOCALIZED infrastructure issues, traffic congestion, and community safety took center stage on Thursday during a dialogue between the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Ma-a officials held at the barangay session hall along Don Julian Street on June 18.

DCPO city director PCOL Peter B. Madria led the summit, aimed at establishing direct communication lines with grassroots leaders.

During the open forum, grassroots officials flagged persistent traffic bottlenecks and illegal parking operations near the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, whose residents noted heavily disrupted local movement.

Leaders also raised urgent environmental and safety concerns regarding the recent trash slide incident at neighboring Barangay Carmen, urging coordinated municipal and police intervention.

PMAJ Philip Dave Uddin, station commander of Police Station 16 (Ma-a), accepted the feedback and committed his unit to direct field interventions to address the illegal parking and safety hazards raised by the community.

Ma-a Barangay Captain Pacito Cañete, alongside delegation leaders from Carmen, Langub, and Magtuod, expressed their administrative support for the station’s incoming security programs, citing the current peace and order situation in their respective areas.

Madria emphasized that maintaining urban security relies heavily on real-time intelligence and cooperation from local barangay units.

“My presence here is not merely an introduction, but a step toward establishing solid and constant communication to strengthen the partnership between the barangay, the police, and the community,” Madria stated, assuring local executives that the DCPO headquarters will back localized enforcement requests.
