THE PHILIPPINE Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) XI kicked off the “YAKAP Para sa Manggagawa, YAKAP sa Pamilyang Pilipino” event at Ayala Malls Abreeza on May 1 as part of the Labor Day celebration.
YAKAP Para sa Manggagawa is a nationwide activity that brings essential healthcare services closer to members in a shopping mall venue, and workers are also encouraged to register and avail the benefits of the PhilHealth.
The program offered a guided walkthrough of YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) services and GAMOT (Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment) availment, registration, First Patient Encounter (FPE), empanelment, and consultation.
Interactive booths, raffle draws, giveaways, and a community Zumba session were also featured during the event, and were organized through partnership with Healthway Multi-Specialty Center, an accredited YAKAP clinic based inside Abreeza, and partner stakeholders.
This is also in line with PhilHealth’s commitment to making primary care more accessible and convenient through YAKAP, an enhanced Konsulta package launched last year, that covers laboratory tests, cancer screenings, and 75 medicines under GAMOT.
“Health care should not be distant or difficult to reach. By establishing mall-based YAKAP clinics, we are transforming everyday spaces into gateways of care, bringing essential health services closer to where people live, work, and spend their time,” PhilHealth XI regional vice president Atty. Harvey Carcedo said in his opening remarks during the event.
Presently, Davao Region has 185 accredited YAKAP clinics and a total of 1,127,358 YAKAP registered beneficiaries.By Gio J. Tanudtanud
