THE VICES Regulation Unit (VRU) issued citation tickets to 86 individuals caught violating Davao City’s Liquor Ban Ordinance following a raid at around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, along Mapa Street.

Jacy Jay Francia, acting head of the VRU and the operation’s leader, said most of the violators were caught red-handed at one watering hole during prohibited hours.

The VRU also handed a citation ticket to the establishment, which could face further administrative sanctions or potential closure.

Aside from the Mapa Street raid, VRU personnel continued their rounds across various areas, flagging an additional 19 individuals for similar violations.

“A total of 86 violators of the Liquor Code Ordinance were issued citation tickets,” Francia told the TIMES, emphasizing that the unit remains vigilant in enforcing the city’s strict “no-drinking” window to maintain public order and safety.

Davao City’s Liquor Ban Ordinance prohibits the sale and consumption of alcohol from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily. Individuals caught violating the Comprehensive Liquor Code are fined P3,000 for the first offense, P5,000 for the second offense and/or three months’ imprisonment. Succeeding violations will merit a P5,000 fine and a one-year imprisonment.

Establishments found to have sold liquor to minors will face one year imprisonment on top of the P5,000 fine.

The VRU recorded 729 violators of the ordinance for the first three months of 2026.
