THE NATIONAL Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) XI has distributed a total of P47,730,000 to 4,593 grantees aged 80 to 100 based on the recently conducted 2nd Quarter Expanded Centenarians Act (ECA) cash gift distribution from June 22 to July 10, 2026.
In Region XI, Davao City has the highest number of grantees at a total of 1,689, who are mostly aged 80 and 96, and 10 centenarians. This was followed by Davao del Norte at 850, Davao del Sur at 671, Davao de Oro at 639, Davao Oriental at 553, and Davao Occidental at 19.
In the first quarter, NCSC XI distributed P39.4 million in cash gifts to 3,742 qualified grantees. Last year, the agency had allocated P139 million to 13,247 senior citizens in the region.
According to NCSC XI project development officer Filbert Bryan Sollesta, they are exploring ways for more convenient services such as an electronic fund transfer wherein applicants can declare their bank account or e-wallets in order to receive cash gifts.
He also said that the new application forms will require a bank account number and their full names. Accounts under the names of a relative, caregiver, or representative will not be granted.
Residents in far-flung areas must coordinate with their local social welfare offices, the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, and NCSC XI.
Republic Act No. 11982, or the Expanded Centenarians Act, took effect on Mar 17, 2024, and grants P10,000 cash gifts to Filipino citizens reaching milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95, while centenarians will receive P100,000.
This was implemented through the regional offices of the NCSC and was carried out with the help of continued partnerships with the local government units, OSCA, LSWDO, and the Federation Presidents of Senior Citizens Association.
