THE PUBLIC Employment Service Office (PESO) announced on Monday that a job fair is set on March 26 for the third batch of senior citizens and for the second batch of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Shirly Duran- Sahid, PESO Davao Labor and Employment Officer II, said the job fair is in line with the city’s Senior Citizens Job Opportunity Ordinance, which aims to provide employment for able senior citizens.

“We will be conducting a special job fair for our third batch and our 2nd batch of PWDs, most likely on March 26, our target date,” Sahid said.

In the first batch, there were 78 senior citizens and 21 PWDs employed in various Jollibee and McDonald’s food chains in the city.

The first batch of senior citizens has concluded their work, and the second batch, numbering 70 individuals, recently started on Jan. 15 and will end in April.

The senior citizens are required to work for three months, while the PWDs will work for five months.

Sahid said talks are ongoing with other private businesses on expanded partnerships to benefit more seniors and PWDs.

“We are now negotiating with SM and Penongs. For Penongs, they pledged five slots for now,” the official said.

The city government and Jollibee Group officially signed the memorandum of agreement on Friday, Sept. 11, 2025,  formally integrating the senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD)  workforce.

Jollibee Foods Corporation includes Chowking, Greenwich, Burger King, and Jollibee. Jollibee Group agreed to extend the job opportunities to the PWD sector.

To note, the first agreement, signed with the Golden Arches Development Corporation (the master franchisee of McDonald’s in the Philippines) on Sept. 9, 2025, pledged to generate at least 110 job openings for senior citizens.
