CANCER patients in the southeastern region of Mindanao will soon have expanded access to life-saving treatment as We Hope Medical Group prepares to open its first chemotherapy center on the island.

The upcoming opening of the Davao Chemotherapy Center is expected to bridge critical gaps in regional cancer care, particularly for low-income patients. Chemotherapy treatments will be provided free of charge to eligible residents of Davao City and nearby provinces through a strategic partnership between PhilHealth and local government units (LGUs).
By subsidizing these essential medical procedures, the initiative aims to alleviate the severe financial burden that cancer treatment places on vulnerable families. The facility is designed to improve overall patient outcomes by decentralizing specialized care, reducing waiting times, and providing accessible outpatient services.
Bringing quality medical infrastructure closer to local communities enables patients to receive consistent, high-standard care without incurring prohibitive travel and accommodation expenses. The center is located on the Ground Floor of the Filandia IT Center, Jacinto Extension corner Quirino Avenue, Barangay 11-B, Poblacion District, Davao City.
Despite the passage of the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA), many patients continue to struggle with late diagnosis, limited access to specialized care, and high out‑of‑pocket expenses.
Chemotherapy alone can cost up to ₱120,000 per cycle, with total treatment reaching ₱5 million or more, pushing families into debt, asset liquidation, or treatment abandonment.
