MAWAB, Davao de Oro – A total of 1,109 rice and corn farmers in the Municipality of Mawab received financial assistance on Friday through the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF) Program, implemented by the Department of Agriculture XI (DA XI).
The distribution of assistance was held at the Mawab Municipal Gymnasium as part of the national government’s continuing efforts to provide support to farmers and strengthen the country’s agricultural sector.
The program aims to help farmers sustain their farming activities, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance their livelihoods amid the challenges facing the sector.
Local and national officials attended the activity to express their support for the beneficiaries. Representing Mayor Myrill Apit was Jerico A. Acana. Also present were Davao de Oro Governor Raul Mabanglo and Davao de Oro 2nd District Representative Leonel “Jhong” Ceniza.

Apit emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the local government and national agencies in bringing more agricultural programs to Mawab.
“Our farmers play a vital role in ensuring food security and driving the local economy. Through partnerships with national government agencies, we remain committed to providing programs and services that will help improve their productivity and quality of life,” Apit said.
Apit assured that the local government will continue working closely with national government agencies to deliver more interventions that will benefit farmers and strengthen agricultural production in the municipality.
The assistance forms part of the government’s broader initiative to support farmers and fisherfolk affected by economic and environmental challenges, while ensuring a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector.
“Strong support for our farmers means a stronger future for Mawab,” Apit said.
