THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) and the National Police Commission (Napolcom) XI launched a collaborative two-day educational drive on Thursday, May 28, aimed at equipping local youth with crucial safety skills and raising awareness on child protection.

The Children’s Awareness, Safety, and Protection Program officially opened at 9 a.m. at the Sandigan Hall inside the DCPO headquarters at Camp Captain Domingo E. Leonor along San Pedro Street.

Led jointly by DCPO city director Col. Peter Bauzon Madria and Napolcom XI regional director Ma. Teresa E. Tuburan-Pacudan, the initiative serves to reinforce child rights and institutionalize safety measures against potential security threats facing the youth.

The two-day seminar is designed to educate children on recognizing danger, navigating personal safety measures, and understanding how law enforcement and government agencies operate to protect them.

Beyond basic safety lectures, the program aims to bridge the gap between the police force and the community’s youngest stakeholders.

During the opening ceremony, PCol. Madria extended his gratitude to Napolcom XI for the partnership, emphasizing that safeguarding the youth requires a unified front rather than isolated law enforcement actions.

“The program reflects DCPO’s commitment to building a safer environment for the youth,” Madria stated, noting that child safety must be treated as a shared responsibility across law enforcement, localized government bodies, and the broader community.

Organizers emphasized that instilling safety awareness at an early age creates a more resilient community.

The initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to foster institutional transparency and strengthen community-oriented policing in the Davao Region.

The seminar will continue through Friday, featuring interactive sessions and lectures from child protection experts and law enforcement personnel specializing in women and children’s protection desks.
