Makati Development Corporation (MDC), the construction arm of Ayala Land, was named Overall Winner at the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA) 2026 for the second consecutive year, with its Park Central Towers project taking top honors in the High-Rise Structures category.
The recognition underscores MDC’s focus on better execution—strengthening construction productivity, quality, safety and technical capability to deliver increasingly complex developments for Ayala Land.
Park Central Towers — the two-tower Ayala Land Premier development at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue in Makati’s Roxas Triangle — will now represent the Philippines at the global American Concrete Institute (ACI) Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards this October.
MDC served as General Contractor, with MDBI Construction Corporation as Concrete Contractor and MDC ConQrete, Inc. as Concrete Supplier. The integrated approach brought key parts of the concrete construction process under one group, enabling closer coordination and consistent standards in engineering, quality, safety, and execution across two high-rise towers: the 72-storey South Tower and 59-storey North Tower.
PECCA evaluates projects based on engineering, functionality, creativity and sustainability, aesthetics, and innovative use of concrete. Park Central Towers stood out through a combination of structural innovation and advanced construction methods, including:
- Viscoelastic Coupling Dampers (VCDs) to enhance resilience against seismic and wind forces.
- Automatic self-climbing core wall formwork for safer and more efficient vertical construction.
- Guided perimeter protection systems providing enclosed work platforms as the towers rose.
- Lightweight aluminum slab formwork that reduced manpower requirements and achieved up to 40% material savings through early stripping.
- Crane-assisted metal shutter panels that improved the productivity and safety of external shear wall construction.
Together, these technologies and construction methods supported a construction pace of approximately 2.5 floors per month across the 72-storey South Tower and 59-storey North Tower, demonstrating MDC’s ability to deliver complex high-rise structures with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.
The back-to-back PECCA Overall Winner titles in 2025 and 2026 underscore MDC’s consistent application of construction expertise and its ability to translate technical innovation into measurable improvements in project execution.
