THE LOCAL government will launch the Senior Citizens Community Care Center (SC3C) on Monday, Sept. 22.
The SC3C is a one-stop hub where elderly residents can access essential health services, livelihood opportunities, recreational activities, and a range of government support programs fit to their specific needs.
Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs head Lorenzo Borja said the SC3C will be in the Dacoville Subdivision in Dumoy, Toril District
“The livelihood training from TESDA to the senior citizens will be conducted in the SC3C,” Borja said in an interview with the city-run disaster radio.
He added that the center will house the National Center for Senior Citizens, City Social Welfare and Development Office, and Philhealth to cater to the needs of senior citizens.
“We will also put the needs of the seniors there, such as for physical activities, and the library center,” he stressed.
The SC3C in Dumoy is the first in the city, but the local government aims to establish a branch in every congressional district.
In the downtown proper, OSCA proposed to establish an SC3C in Osmeña Park to reach more senior citizens. In District 2, Borja said documentation for a donated space is in the works.
At present, OSCA has recorded 200,000 senior citizens registered in the city.
SC3C is a program approved by the national government and implemented and funded by the local government unit.
