THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) stepped in on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, to defuse escalating tensions after an Interim Board faction and several members forcibly breached the main office of the Agdao Multipurpose Cooperative (AMPC) in Bo. Obrero.
The incident reportedly marked the third attempt by the interim group to seize physical control of the headquarters from the sitting management, following months of an ongoing internal leadership dispute.
Responding to the commotion, a high-level police delegation led by DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria—alongside PLTCOL Randy P. Sambalod, PLTCOL Daisy G. Torres (1st CMFC), PMAJ Mark Anthony C. Egos (PS 18-Bajada), PMAJ Roel Saludez (2nd CMFC), and DCPO Legal Officer PMAJ Lean C. Marquez—deployed to secure the premises and restore order.
Madria personally facilitated a mediation session between representatives of the opposing factions inside the establishment.
Hours into the discussions, the parties reached a temporary agreement to stand down, significantly cooling off tensions on the ground.
Calmer conditions returned to the area after one faction agreed to leave the building while negotiations continued.
“The DCPO remains committed to maintaining peace and order in Davao City,” Madria said in a statement. “Through immediate response, we ensure that conflicts are addressed with discipline, fairness, and respect, in line with our mandate to serve and protect the community.”
Despite the temporary truce, police forces remain on alert as both factions navigate pending legal proceedings over the management of the cooperative.
