PERSONNEL from the Davao City Police Office Tourist Police Unit (DCPO-TPU) completed a specialized training program to bolster visitor safety at key destinations.

Led by TPU chief PLTCOL Reuben Libera, the officers completed the three-day tourist-oriented police for community order and protection training from Oct. 26 to 28 at the PRO XI Bagani Hall in Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido.

The capacity-building workshop was organized by the Department of Tourism Region XI, headed by regional director Tanya Rabat-Tan, in partnership with Police Regional Office XI under acting chief BGEN Benigno Guzman.

According to police officials, the curriculum equipped TPU officers with specialized skills in frontline tourist assistance, emergency response, community policing, and handling tourism-related security concerns.

Regional tourism and police authorities stated that investing in specialized training for tourist police remains critical to sustaining Davao City’s tourism growth, ensuring visitors experience both safety and warm hospitality.
