NESTLÉ Philippines Inc. lauds the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and local law enforcement units for their coordinated operations against counterfeit MAGGI Magic Sarap products across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In the past five months, the operations covered key areas including Tacloban City, Iligan City, Pagadian City, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tondo, Caloocan City, Bacolod, Mandaue, and Cebu City, resulting in the confiscation of fake seasoning products valued at more than ₱17.63 million.
“Product quality and consumer welfare remain among our highest priorities. We will continue working closely with authorities to help ensure that consumers have access to genuine Nestlé products,” according to a Nestlé Philippines representative.
Upholding consumer protection and product integrity
The manufacture, distribution, and sale of counterfeit goods violate Philippine laws, including intellectual property and food safety regulations. Authorities have pursued charges against individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of fake products.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward illegal operations involving counterfeit goods,” said PNP Director General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. “We will continue working to protect consumers and support efforts that keep genuine products in the market.”
Guidance for consumers and trade partners
Nestlé Philippines urges consumers to report suspected counterfeit activities to the Nestlé Consumer Services Hotline at (+632) 8888-0061 or consumer.services@ph.nestle.com, or to local authorities. Warning signs may include unusually low prices, blurred or pale packaging, removable batch codes or expiry dates, grayish powder-like contents instead of the light-yellow granules, and aroma or flavor that are significantly different from genuine MAGGI Magic Sarap.
