‘Weaponizing justice’: Paolo Duterte claims ICC has issued warrants for Bong Go, Ex-Cops

REPRESENTATIVE Paolo Duterte launched a scathing attack on the Marcos administration, claiming a “highly reliable source” has confirmed the International Criminal Court (CC) has already issued arrest warrants against Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and two former high-ranking police officers.

In a strongly worded statement issued, the Davao City 1st District Representative accused the current administration of using international and local state agencies to hunt down and silence political opponents.

“Will this administration ever stop using the ICC as a political weapon against its enemies? Do you have no mercy or shame in what you are doing?” Duterte said.

Allegations of systemic weaponization

Duterte alleged that the current administration has compromised nearly all branches of government, including the Ombudsman and a silent judiciary, to insulate itself from criticism and deflect from mounting economic issues.

“Almost every government agency is being used by this administration to chase after political rivals… from the Ombudsman down to the judiciary, which remains silent just to avoid the ire of the Marcoses,” Duterte said in Bisaya.

He warned current government officials who are allegedly turning a blind eye to please the administration: “If they can abandon their allies now, what more will they do to you when you are no longer useful?”

Economic red flags raised

Shifting the focus to national concerns, the lawmaker highlighted the country’s soaring national debt, which he stated has reached ₱18.49 trillion.

“The debt of the Philippines is already at ₱18.49 trillion, and it’s still growing… It’s no longer just the people’s money being stolen, but the very future of our children and grandchildren that is being put at risk,” Duterte warned.

He concluded his statement with an appeal to the public to reject the politicization of the justice system, before taking a final parting shot at the administration: “History teaches us that there are no permanent allies in politics—only permanent interests… Karma will catch up to you.”

Executive offices and the ICC have yet to issue an official response regarding Duterte’s claims.
