POLICE operatives arrested a “regional top priority” drug personality and seized an estimated P1.36 million worth of suspected shabu during a late-night buy-bust operation in Purok Virgo, Barangay Lasang, Bunawan District at 10:52 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
The suspect, identified only by the alias Jamil, 45, is a resident of Tagum City. Authorities tagged him as a high-value individual (HVI) and a top priority on the regional drug list.
The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU XI), and the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies, in coordination with the Bunawan Police Station and PDEA XI, initiated the operation
According to the police report, a poseur-buyer purchased a sachet of suspected shabu from the suspect. Upon his arrest, officers recovered two additional large sachets of the illegal substance.
Aside from the drugs, authorities confiscated the P1,000 marked bill and “boodle” money used in the sting, a Nokia keypad cellular phone, and a black Suzuki Raider motorcycle used by the suspect.
The inventory of the evidence was conducted on-site in the presence of the suspect and required witnesses, as mandated by Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Jamil is currently in police custody for booking and filing of charges, while the confiscated drugs have been submitted for laboratory examination.
