THE LAND Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) XI clarified that it hasn’t been remiss in reminding the Vietnam-based company Green Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) comply with all requirements before operating.

The agency released a statement on Thursday following a press release from the city government, which flagged the operation of the Green GSM.

“In connection with the presence of Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc. in Davao City, the company has been duly informed by the LTFRB of its responsibility to comply with all the requirements pertinent to its application for the issuance of a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC),” LTFRB stated.

It added that this includes those permits required by the city government.

A Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) is an authorization issued by the LTFRB for the operation of land transportation services for public use.

In the case of Green GSM, LTFRB said it applied to operate as an air-conditioned EV Taxi service.

“The LTFRB XI, while in the performance of our mandated functions, has likewise faithfully reminded all Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Operators to follow and respect the regulations and guidelines of the City Government of Davao,” the agency stressed.

To note, Vietnam-based company Green GSM formally launched its all-electric taxi service on Monday, Dec. 15, at Davao Port, KM 11 Sasa here, marking the company’s first expansion outside Metro Manila.

But the city government on Dec. 16 flagged the operations due to a lack of compliance with necessary permits.

The company allegedly has not yet secured a business permit, locational clearance, and a building permit for its facilities.

“Until all required permits are fully obtained and complied with, their operations are considered illegal,” the city government stressed.
