VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte expressed relief after the recent status conference for former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRD), saying that the proceedings allowed judges to directly observe his current health status.
Speaking in an ambush interview on Monday, Sept. 21, during her visit to South Cotabato, the Vice President noted that the former chief executive is facing an advanced stage of health challenges.
“Well, I’m happy that there was a status conference and finally the judges saw what the status of FPRD is,” Duterte told members of the media. “You can see that he is in an advanced stage, and hopefully they will be able to discuss the status of his health condition.”
On Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, former President Rodrigo Duterte made his first in-person appearance before ICC judges in The Hague for the third status conference on his crimes against humanity case.
Meanwhile, the Vice President’s remarks came against the backdrop of her official engagements in South Cotabato on Monday, where she also addressed pressing regional issues, including campus safety and security interventions following a series of recent school-related security scares and violent incidents in the area.
