VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte called administration officials of being “insecure and afraid” for moving to subpoena several high-profile critics and media figures.
On Thursday, May 7, she was asked for her reaction to the government’s recent actions against individuals including Jay Sonza, “Ka Eric” (Eric Celiz), and Iloy Bugris.
Duterte suggested that those behind the legal actions are overly sensitive to public opinion.
“Those kinds of people who are affected by the opinions of ordinary citizens are sensitive, insecure, and afraid,” Duterte said in a mix of English and Filipino.
“That is the power of the individuals they are going after. They are afraid of them.”
“When you are the President, it doesn’t matter what the citizens’ attacks against you are. Because that is part of your job,” she stated.
“What you should be focusing on is how to make the country peaceful and prosperous. That is what you should focus on—not what people are saying,” the vice president said.
Meanwhile, the government has yet to respond to the comments of the Vice President.
