THE ENVIRONMENT Management Bureau (DENR- EMB) XI recorded good air quality across all ambient air monitoring stations in the region as of Monday, September 14.
Based on the latest data collected from Tagum, Calinan, Malita, and Digos stations as of Sept. 14, good air quality levels were recorded across all active parameters.
“The air quality across these areas is currently excellent and poses no health risks to the general public,” EMB XI said in a public advisory.
The Calinan Station recorded a PM10 AQI of 33.9 and PM2.5 of 36.8, both rated Good, a notable improvement from September 11 when PM2.5 spiked to 120 (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) and PM10 hit 77.5 (Fair).
This is also a significant improvement from Sept. 10, when PM2.5 spiked to 145, and Sept. 9, with 160, which was in the “Very Unhealthy” category.
The Malita Station posted the cleanest readings of the four, with PM10 at 23.2 and PM2.5 at 28.08, both Good, continuing a steady Good rating across all four days tracked.
The Digos Station showed PM10 at 34.9 and PM2.5 at 37.48, also Good, after a brief dip to Fair for PM2.5 (75.9) on September 12.
Meanwhile, the Tagum Station, which only tracks PM2.5, registered 47.28 (Good) on September 14, improving from a Fair reading of 62.24 on September 11.
The advisory for all four stations notes no expected health risks, with outdoor activities considered safe under current conditions.
“Walang inaasahang panganib sa kalusugan. Ligtas na magsagawa ng mga aktibidad sa labas,” the agency’s health advisory reads.
The EMB XI continuously monitors the air quality to ensure public health and safety.
As of Sept. 10, the Department of Health XI has recorded no respiratory-related cases despite the transboundary haze from Indonesia.
