THE TRAIL has a way of redefining what makes a run worth the distance. It is not always about the fastest pace or the shortest time. Sometimes, it is about making the climb, finding your route, knowing when to push, when to recover, and taking in the view along the way.
Because on the trail, where you run matters almost as much as how you run. Cordillera Mountain (CMU) is an annual trail-running event in Benguet that brings runners across the Cordillera’s challenging mountain terrain, offering distances for both seasoned trail runners and those discovering the sport. More than a race, it has become a gathering point for the country’s growing trail-running community, bringing runners together to experience the Cordillera’s challenging terrain and the sport’s unique culture.
It is this spirit that brings Samsung and Cordillera Mountain Ultra (CMU) together, with Samsung coming on board as the Official Watch Partner of the trail-running event. Through Trail with Galaxy, the partnership brings the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 into an environment where performance, preparation, and resilience matter, and where technology can help runners make more informed decisions on the trail. For CMU, bringing more people outdoors has always been at the heart of the work.
“Our goal is to bring more people outdoors. For the last two decades, that has been our advocacy and main driver of our work. This partnership with Samsung and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 allows us to broaden this advocacy while utilizing the best possible technology for exploring and adventuring in the outdoors,” said JP Alipio, organizer, Cordillera Mountain Ultra
Built for the demands of the trail
Made for adventures beyond the pavement, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 combines dual-frequency GPS, Trail Run Mode, and GPX route guidance to help runners navigate their route and track key performance data, including elevation, climbing progress, and pace.
Built to keep up with the environment, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 features a rugged titanium body, IP69K and 10ATM ratings, and an up to 5,000-nit display, while its 800mAh battery supports longer adventures. For runners taking on challenging trails, it also offers Nutrition Alert to provide hydration guidance based on estimated sweat loss, helping runners stay attuned to the demands of their effort.
Together, these capabilities make the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 a natural companion for Trail with Galaxy, giving runners a clearer view of the trail ahead while keeping them connected to their route, performance, and what it takes to go further. Because sometimes, the real measure of technology is not what it can track, but what it helps you experience.
“Technology is most meaningful when people can see how it supports the moments and pursuits that matter to them. That is why we are bringing the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 into the trail-running community, where runners can put its capabilities to the test as they prepare, move, explore, and recover. Through our partnership with Cordillera Mountain Ultra, we hope to support more Filipinos as they take on new challenges and pursue the passions that keep them moving,” said Jun Guevara, Director, Head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics Philippines.
Bringing Trail with Galaxy to the community
The partnership extends beyond race day through community sessions and trail experiences designed to make trail running more accessible to a wider community. Through opportunities to learn from experienced runners, connect with fellow trail enthusiasts, and experience Galaxy technology in the outdoors, Samsung and CMU aim to encourage more Filipinos to discover the trail and build the confidence to take it on.
From those discovering the trail for the first time to seasoned runners looking to take on more challenging routes, the partnership aims to make the trail more accessible while encouraging runners to explore, move, and go further with confidence. With Trail with Galaxy, Samsung Philippines and Cordillera Mountain Ultra invite more runners to experience what lies beyond it, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 built for the extreme and ready for the trail.
For those ready to discover what lies beyond the road, registration for Cordillera Mountain Ultra is open until November 30, 2026. Interested runners can visit the CMU registration site for race details and registration information.
