THE POLICE Regional Office (PRO) XI issued a warning against private armed groups (PAGs) as part of heightened security measures leading up to the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against electoral intimidation, PRO XI underscored that organized armed factions attempting to influence, disrupt, or coerce voters and candidates will face full legal consequences.
PAGs refer to organized armed elements, typically hired by politicians, to exert unlawful pressure over political exercises, compromising the free will of voters.
PRO XI then urged citizens to report suspicious movements or armed elements to authorities, emphasizing that safeguarding the democratic process requires collective participation between law enforcement agencies and the public.
“Let BARMM 2026 be peaceful, fair, and free from intimidation. Preventing the presence and activities of PAGs helps protect voters, candidates, election workers, and communities,” the advisory stated.
