- Police take action as Davao public high school gets online threat
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has launched a cyber investigation to trace the source of an online threat targeting a local public high school.
The local police command confirmed that its cyber investigators are actively validating the circulating social media post in an effort to identify the individual behind the account.
To ensure the safety of students, faculty, and the surrounding community, the DCPO is working in close coordination with school administrators, barangay officials, and relevant government agencies to secure the campus perimeter and monitor the situation.
Law enforcement authorities issued a stern warning to the public regarding the severe legal ramifications of digital intimidation.
The online threat came in the wake of the successive school violence targeting students, including the tragic mass shooting in San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, which killed three and injured 20 others, last month.
Two minors masterminded the attack and were charged with multiple counts of murder, frustrated murder, and physical injury.
From June 16 to July 2, the Department of Education has recorded 15 violent incidents inside school premises, injuring 32 students and killing three. This disturbing data surfaced during the Senate hearing by the committee on education headed by Senator Bam Aquino earlier this month.
The DCPO emphasized that making online threats—regardless of whether they are intended as a prank, a joke, or a serious statement—carries heavy criminal and legal sanctions.
“The DCPO treats all threats against educational institutions with the utmost seriousness,” the police command said in an official statement.
As the digital investigation continues, city police are urging the public to remain calm and exercise responsibility online.
Citizens are advised to refrain from sharing unverified posts that could trigger unnecessary panic and instead immediately report any relevant information or suspicious online activity to the nearest police station.
