THE APO View Hotel, Davao City’s premier legacy hospitality establishment, officially unveiled a major modernization drive on Thursday, Aug. 20, marking a new chapter in its historical timeline while reinforcing its commitment to local tourism and heritage.
During the Kapihan sa Apo View press briefing, hotel executives and City Tourism Operations Office officials highlighted the landmark’s physical and operational upgrades, designed to blend modern guest experiences with the traditional Davaoeño hospitality the hotel has delivered since 1948.
The transformation—dubbed a “New Era of Legacy”—features newly constructed function spaces, an upgraded swimming pool area, and a dedicated multi-story parking structure aimed at accommodating the city’s growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector and downtown traffic demands.
Strengthening Local Tourism and Heritage
Speaking at the briefing, CTOO chief Willenito Tormis commended the historic hotel for continuously adapting to modern industry standards without sacrificing its deep-rooted cultural identity.
Hotel representatives emphasized that while the physical infrastructure has been expanded to cater to staycationers, corporate events, and international travelers, Apo View remains deeply anchored in honoring the heritage and pride of Davao City.
“This marks a new chapter for one of Davao’s most iconic landmarks,” hotel management shared during the presentation by Christian Bona. “We are delivering elevated, modern experiences while ensuring that our legacy continues to honor the pride and rich culture of every Davaoeño.”

Beyond its physical facility upgrades, Apo View management announced strengthened collaborations with local government units, tourism boards, and private stakeholders for upcoming citywide celebrations, cultural festivities, and corporate gatherings.
As Davao City experiences a post-pandemic surge in business travel and regional conventions, the hotel’s renewed direction positions it as a key pillar in the city’s broader economic and tourism expansion strategy.
