MONTEFRIO Garden Resort kicks-off the holiday season on Nov 21 with “Pasko sa Amihan: A Mindanaoan Christmas Lighting,” blending Mindanao’s rich cultural heritage and the warmth of Filipino Christmas.
Guests, representatives from the Department of Tourism XI, and the Salazar family, all gathered at the special night to celebrate the season of hope, unity, and gratitude with fun festivities and the Christmas magic at MonteFrio.
“Our vision has always been to offer a sanctuary where moments become memories and where guests feel a sense of comfort, belonging, and genuine hospitality,” MonteFrio Garden Resort CEO Renante Salazar said during the lighting ceremony.

MonteFrio lights up its 15ft Christmas tree with a ceremonial gong to awaken the spirit of Christmas in the highlands and a fireworks display for a colorful evening celebration.
DOT XI regional director Tanya Rabat-Tan, in a message read by her representative Vanessa Serrano, said “The lights shine not only to brighten our evening, but to honor the collective spirit of our tourism family, stakeholders, partners, and friends whose passion and dedication make Davao a place that warms the heart long before it welcomes the visitor.”
The Christmas tree is crafted with authentic weaves and textiles that represents the artistry of the Tibolo, Bagobo, and other IP communities. Each weave has its own tale of identity, craftmanship, and the vibrant spirit of Mindanao.
The event was welcomed by the performances of the Tibolo tribal dancers harmonizing through ancestral rhythm and energy, and the Sleigh Bells Band filling the night with classic Filipino Christmas melodies.
