Over P4-M in illegal drugs incinerated in Davao

THE PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI destroyed over ₱4 million worth of seized illegal drugs on Tuesday, Nov. 18, to address public concerns over recycling.

PDEA XI regional director Edgar T. Jubay supervised the incineration, held around 9 a.m. at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, J. Camus Extension, corner Jose Abad Santos Street, Davao City.

The thermal incineration was conducted in line with the observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week 2025 and in strict compliance with Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A total of ₱4,020,036.48 worth of illegal drugs—along with various expired medicines—were completely destroyed. 

The evidence included:

  • Shabu: 497.3788 grams, valued at ₱3,382,175.84
  • Marijuana: 5,303.8387 grams, valued at ₱637,860.64
  • Expired Medicines: Valued at around ₱3,308

To guarantee full transparency and accountability throughout the process, the destruction was witnessed by Regional Trial Court Branch 17 Judge Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas, representatives from the Department of Justice and the Public Attorney’s Office, civil society groups, and the media.
