THE DAVAO Oriental Provincial Hospital (DOPH)-Manay has temporarily transferred its operations to a new space to ensure the continuity of essential health services for the affected.
In a statement Monday, Dr. Reden Bersaldo, provincial health officer, ordered the immediate relocation after structural assessments identified safety concerns in the hospital’s main building.
This follows the 7.4 and 6.8-magnitude quakes in Manay as the epicenter. The transfer was executed, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
The Southern Philippines Medical Center, through its chief Dr. Ricardo Audan, has extended manpower augmentation to DOPH–Manay for uninterrupted hospital operations during this transition period.
The 19-man Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance team—composed of four medical specialists, eight registered nurses, one midwife, one pharmacist, one physical therapist, and four biomedical and administrative staff—has been temporarily deployed to strengthen the hospital’s service capacity.
Meanwhile, regular staff continue to attend to the influx of patients affected by the earthquake, as well as the placement of the hospital in its temporary location.
The Philippine College of Physicians Southern Mindanao Chapter also provided medicines, medical supplies, and water gallons.
“Our priority is the safety of our patients and staff. The cooperation of SPMC and the provincial leadership has ensured that DOPH–Manay remains operational and responsive even in this time of crisis,” Bersaldo said.
Governor Ednar Dayanghirang assured that rehabilitation works and long-term facility improvements are being planned to restore full operations once the structure is declared safe or a permanent site is finalized.
The DOPH Manay temporary facility now houses emergency, delivery, outpatient, and basic inpatient services, with referral mechanisms in place for cases requiring higher-level care.
Residents are advised that the new hospital location remains fully functional and accessible, and medical services continue without interruption at its temporary site at the Manay Super Health Center.
