THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), through its Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Communications, Electronics, and Information Systems (CEIS), successfully concluded a two-day Inter-Agency Cybersecurity Operations Training at Camp Panacan, Davao City, from Sept. 29 to 30.

The training brought together Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-skilled personnel from EastMinCom’s joint task forces, alongside dedicated representatives from partner agencies, including the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit.

The course sought to significantly enhance the technical proficiency and cybersecurity awareness of EastMinCom personnel by focusing on key competencies: Building foundational knowledge of computing systems and networks, enhancing skills in secure platforms and ethical hacking, applying digital forensic principles and procedures, improving incident response and reporting mechanisms, and increasing awareness of cybersecurity laws, emerging threats, and investigative tools.

In response to the growing complexity of digital warfare, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) established the AFP Cyber Command to protect digital infrastructure, safeguard military communications, and reinforce cyber resilience across all major services.

In line with this national directive, EastMinCom plans to create the EMC Task Group Cyber.

This dedicated group will focus on countering localized cyber threats, integrating cyber capabilities into joint operations, and supporting the development of the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (RJPSCC) for strengthened and coordinated regional cyber defense efforts.
