A 60-YEAR-OLD man was killed after a wing van lost its brakes and crashed into his residence in Buhangin District on Friday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2025.
The victim was identified as a resident of Sta. Cruz, Acacia Road, where the incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m.
According to police, the man was standing outside his house when the truck, driven by a 27-year-old, identified only as Rey, suddenly veered off the road.
Initial investigation showed the vehicle’s brakes failed as it was navigating a curved section of the street, causing it to plow directly into the victim and his property.
Personnel from Central 911 immediately responded to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the driver, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, is now in police custody while waiting for appropriate charges to be filed against him.
