THE OUR Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel, a GKK (Basic Ecclesial Community) Chapel under the parochial jurisdiction of San Alfonso Ma. de Liguori Parish in Mandug, announced the return of its official annual fundraising event—Takbo Peñafrancia: RUN with HUE Year III.
Since its launch in 2023, this vibrant and colorful campaign has been the heartfelt initiative of the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel Youth Ministry, gathering the youth and wider community to support ongoing chapel projects. This year, the run is scheduled for Sept. 13, 2025, at the Phase 1 Gym of Deca Homes Esperanza, Tigatto, Davao City, as part of the GKK Community’s upcoming Patronal Fiesta celebration on Sept. 20, 2025.
Takbo Peñafrancia: RUN with HUE Year III is more than just a colorful, fun event — it aims to promote physical fitness and offer a joyful and engaging way to celebrate the feast of the local patron. It is a unique expression of faith, community, and wellness that brings people together in support of shared values.
Proceeds from this year’s run will go toward the continued construction, improvement, and beautification of the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel, ensuring it remains a vibrant center of prayer and community life. Importantly, this year, apart from elevating the physical aspects of the church building and its surroundings, the organizers also intend to utilize a portion of the event’s proceeds to support charitable causes, in line with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si goals, particularly the “response to the cry of the poor.”
The chapel is also home to the 10th Official Replica of the Poong Jesus Nazareno, enshrined from the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila — making it a treasured place of devotion and pilgrimage within the community.
This annual event reflects the inspiring leadership and commitment of the Youth Ministry, whose vision has united parishioners, families, and sponsors over the past three years. Their dedication continues to strengthen not only the chapel but also the broader mission of service and compassion within the GKK community.
The organizing committee warmly invites everyone — parishioners, running enthusiasts, families, and friends — to join this meaningful run, and together celebrate faith, fitness, fellowship, and shared service to those in need.
