THE DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways announced that a partial opening of the Tuganay Bridge northbound lanes started around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

In a Facebook post, the DPWH XI said the opening was timed for the upcoming Holy Week to improve traffic flow.

While part of the bridge has reopened to motorists, the public advisory reminds drivers to exercise caution because the construction crew is still finalizing the center island and the accompanying pedestrian overpass.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed and follow onsite traffic signaling while passing through the active construction zone.

The Tuganay Bridge project is a key infrastructure link between Carmen and Panabo City, serving as a primary artery for travelers from Davao City to Tagum and the northern regions.

Department officials expect the entirety of the project—including the pedestrian structures and final island finishing—to be fully completed by the end of May 2026.

Local transport groups have welcomed the partial opening, noting that the Tuganay stretch is often a bottleneck during peak travel holidays.
