THE OFW Families Welfare and Crisis Center facilitated the inquiries of Davaoeños about the status and safety of their relatives working in conflict areas overseas.

Jackilou Bandao, CSWDO-OFW Families Welfare and Crisis Center development management officer, said at least 45 individuals personally asked for help while others were represented by their families to seek updates and support regarding their loved ones overseas.

“The Davao City government already has established services to assist distressed OFWs,” Bandao said.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is gearing up to provide support, especially for families left behind in the city.

Most of the families who reached out expressed concern about the safety and condition of their relatives working abroad.

“The type of assistance provided depends on the specific needs requested by the families and OFWs. Among the immediate support given are basic needs assistance and other essential services,” Bandao said.

For cases involving repatriation, the office said services are available to help OFWs return home if necessary.

Authorities added that their social support programs include financial assistance, food assistance, and livelihood support depending on the situation of the affected families.

Officials assured that Davao City continues to strengthen its support services to ensure that distressed OFWs and their families receive the assistance they need.
