THE CITY government, Moro & Indigenous People Affairs Council (MIPAC), with NCCC Cares, signed a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday for the scholarship program for Moro and IP students.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte led the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreement, together with NCCC president Lafayette A. Lim.
The signing officially launches the NCCC Cares Scholarship Program for the 11 tribes: Ata, Maguindanaon, Maranao, Matigsalog, Bagobo Tagabawa, Obu Manuvu, Bagobo Klata, Tausug, Sama, Iranun, and Kagan.
A total of 22 grants of full scholarships, including allowances, are provided for the beneficiaries.
“I hope this will inspire some other establishments. If you have enough, then you can give back to society, to those who are not fortunate. I hope this will set an example,” Duterte said in his message.
“It’s always good to share, and nothing can compare to the feeling of fulfillment if we have done good to our people,” he added.
Lim lauded the city government and the MIPAC for their collaboration and for supporting the underserved.
“NCCC Cares has already helped students send them to school, some have graduated, and some are working abroad. We are really happy that we are able to help more,” Lim said.
