Barangay staff shot dead outside Dumoy village hall

A 32-YEAR-OLD barangay staff member died after being shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen outside the Barangay Hall of Barangay Dumoy along MacArthur Highway on Tuesday evening, Aug. 4.

Police identified the victim only as alias Jason, 32, a resident of Pepsi, Barangay Dumoy.

According to a report from the Baliok Police Station, the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. 

The victim’s 22-year-old nephew, who was crossing MacArthur Highway at the time, witnessed two unidentified men aboard a red and black Honda XRM motorcycle approach the victim, who was standing near the barangay hall premises.

Both suspects were wearing black jackets and shorts. Police said the motorcycle driver wore a black helmet, while the back rider—who fired the shots—wore a white helmet.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before seeing Siason collapse to the ground.

 The assailants immediately fled the scene aboard the motorcycle, heading in a southbound direction.

Alias Jason was rushed to Malta Hospital for urgent medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival at 7:22 p.m. by the attending physician. 

Investigators from the Regional Forensic Unit XI and the SOCO team were deployed to process the crime scene and conduct a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death and gather ballistic evidence.

Personnel from the Baliok Police Station have launched hot pursuit operations and are currently reviewing available CCTV footage along MacArthur Highway to identify the perpetrators and establish the motive behind the fatal shooting.
