A 10-YEAR-OLD girl died on the spot while a 45-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after they were run over by a dump truck along Ma-a Road around 2:15 p.m. at the corner of Ma-a Road and Eden Street on Friday afternoon, Sept. 11.
According to police reports, the dump truck was moving forward in the inner lane as the traffic light turned green toward C.P. Garcia Highway.
The two pedestrians—both residents of Purok 10, Nacilla Village, Barangay Ma-a—reportedly attempted to cross to the opposite side of the road, leading to the tragic incident.
Responding medical personnel from Ma-a Cares and a Central 911 ambulance team arrived at the scene to administer first aid to the 45-year-old victim.
However, the 10-year-old child was declared dead on the spot by an attending Emergency Medical Services physician from the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) via telephone consultation with the Central 911 team.
Authorities are preparing a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injury against the truck driver as further investigation into the incident continues.
