DAVAO Light and Power Company, Inc. (DLPC) launched a ceremonial switch-on at the Davao del Norte Hospital Kapalong Zone, on Feb 16, 2026, to provide it with reliable and stable electricity to support its healthcare operations.
Davao del Norte Hospital Kapalong Zone, welcomed its new partner company after its transition from Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (Nordeco), hoping that DLPC would provide them with uninterrupted power to meet the electricity demands of the hospital.
“It supports life-saving equipment, critical hospital operations, and the continuous care of those who entrust their lives to us,” Dr. Jessie Belga, chief of hospitals, said during a press conference.
The facility is now moving towards becoming a level 2 hospital and preparing for expanded services such as level 3 laboratories, namely an intensive care unit (ICU), neonatal intensive care unit, and additional operating rooms.
DLPC completed a 12-kilometer distribution line from Barangay Pag-asa to the Kapalong Municipality, which also energized several households in the area.
The development is in accordance with Republic Act No. 12144, an act expanding DLPC’s franchise to Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
Davao del Norte governor Edwin Jubahib believed that DLPC would provide adequate electrical services and affordable cost to the communities in the province, who had gone through frequent brownouts and high rates in the past.
