A TOTAL of 79 violators of City Ordinance 0361-10 or the Davao City Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance were apprehended for littering on the Davao City Coastal Road.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) reported the apprehensions covered the Aug. 6-11, 2025, period.

City Ordinance 0361-01 prohibits and penalizes littering, illegal dumping, and improper waste disposal in all public and private areas.

Of the number, 64 were apprehended between 5 p.m. and midnight.

Engr. Marivic Reyes, Cenro officer-in-charge, said there is a need to apprehend the violators so as not to be a precedent for Davaeoños and to safeguard health and the environment.

“It is important to apprehend littering violators to remind everyone of the thrust of the city in strictly enforcing the Solid Waste Ordinance,” Reyes told Madayaw Davao.

Through its enforcement, every citizen in Davao needs to understand that it isn’t just about enforcing fines — it is fundamental to safeguarding the health, preserving the city’s environment, sustaining cleanliness standards, and ensuring that civic discipline thrives,” she added.

According to the ordinance, first-time violators will pay a ₱500 fine or four hours of community service and a mandatory seminar; a second offense will merit a P1,000 fine or four hours of community service and a mandatory seminar. For third-time offenders, they will face up to P5,000 fine and/or imprisonment.
