RASPINA Tropical Fruits Inc., a Davao Region-based exhibitor supported by the Department of Agriculture XI, signed a sales contract with Zhongshou Zhongxin (Guangxi) Import and Export Trading Ltd. during the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2026.
“The deal marks another step forward in bringing Davao’s world-class durian closer to the Chinese market and creating more opportunities for local producers, consolidators, and exporters,” DA XI said in a statement.
The agreement covers the purchase of 14 metric tons of fresh durian valued at RMB 130,000, opening another market opportunity for Philippine durian producers and exporters.
DA XI built market linkages at CAEXPO 2026 to promote Davao’s high-value agricultural products and connect local enterprises with international buyers.
Six agribusiness enterprises from the region will showcase their products at the expo from Sept. 17 to 21 at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICEC) in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
“China is a significant market for agricultural products, and bringing Davao’s products to this market gives our local enterprises an important opportunity to establish linkages, explore business opportunities, and showcase the quality and diversity of what our region can offer,” DA XI regional director Macario Gonzaga said.
Raspina Tropical Fruits Inc. was among the representatives for Davao Region, along with KF Nutri-Foods International Inc., Engseng Food Products, Huanghou Fruits Corp., Maylong Enterprises Corp., and SG Charcoal Copra Trading.
The enterprises showcased a diverse range of products, including fresh and frozen durian, fresh Cavendish banana, banana chips, processed durian and mango products, other banana-based products, and coconut charcoal.
CAEXPO serves as a major platform for economic and trade engagement between China and ASEAN Member States.
Consul General of China in Davao City Zhao Xiuzhen said the demand from the Chinese market continues to be a contributor to the durian industry.
Zhao said China imported about 1.86 million tons of fresh durian from various markets. This year, imports are expected to increase to two million tons.
The consul general added that three Davao-based durian exporters secured orders totaling $36.6 million during the 2025 China International Import Expo.
