THE REGIONAL Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) officially declared two more communities in Davao Region as “drug-cleared” during a ceremony held Tuesday, April 28, at the Bakhawan Resort and Event Center.

Barangay Magnaga in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, and Barangay Miranda in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), Davao del Norte, received the official designation after meeting the stringent requirements of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

The oversight committee, chaired by PDEA XI regional director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspi, confirmed that both villages complied with all operational and documentary mandates under DDB Regulation No. 4, Series of 2021.

Beyond the new declarations, the ROCBDC reported significant progress in maintaining the region’s anti-drug gains.

A total of 778 barangays successfully retained their drug-cleared status, while 27 others were verified as drug-free.

“This is a testament to the continued collaboration between our local government units and law enforcement,” said Gaspi.

The committee includes representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Department of Health, and the Police Regional Office XI.

Local chiefs of police and members of the respective Anti-Drug Abuse Councils attended the event to reaffirm their commitment to the program.

Officials emphasized that the “drug-cleared” status is not permanent and requires constant monitoring to prevent the resurgence of illegal drug activities.

The activity highlights the regional government’s push to secure every community in Davao against the threat of illegal drugs through the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.
