AFTER a hard-fought dance battle at the Iron Horse Super Club Davao last February 21, John Niel Buhian widely known as SPOT, and Johnssen Lionel Solano a.k.a Doodsieroll, emerged triumphant during the annual Red Bull Dance Your Style Qualifiers Davao and cemented their seats in the nationals.
Besting 16 other contenders from Davao City and beyond, SPOT was hailed as the champion for this year’s qualifying competition, with Doodsieroll placing 1st runner-up. SPOT expressed his gratitude for making it to the nationals, and for finally snatching the championship title after three straight years of attempt.
“This is my third run on Red Bull Mindanao Qualifiers. Then, I didn’t qualify in last two years, so now, I gave all my best. And, I was fired up to grab the title this year in Red Bull Mindanao. So yeah, I’m thankful that I was blessed in this event,” he said.
Meanwhile, Doodsieroll, who is also a three-time contender in the Red Bull Dance Your Style Davao, shared how this year’s competition became his dream-come-true moment after being a frustrated dancer for years.
“It’s like a dream come true since my target was only to qualify for the finals. For two years, I thought that I only wanted to dance. Every round, I thought that I wanted to quit. I became a frustrated dancer for how many years, but coach Jack said, “Love your dance, love yourself, and dance will love you back,” Doodsie stated.
SPOT and Doodsieroll are Mindanao’s official representatives for the National Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippines, going against the winning representatives of Visayas and Luzon, which will take place in Manila this coming April 11.
