A TRUCK driver escaped major injury after his vehicle suffered an alleged brake failure and crashed into a concrete wall and an electric post in Bangkal Diversion Road late Friday night, July 31.
Initial police report identified the driver as alias John, 26, a resident of Surallah, South Cotabato.
John was driving a white Isuzu self-loader truck bound for Ulas from Bangkal at around 11:10 p.m. when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle due to a mechanical breakdown.
According to police investigators, the truck swerved onto the opposite lane before crashing head-on into a concrete wall and a Davao Light electric pole (Pole No. 1831003).
Responding officers PSSg Collado and PSSg Relativo of Mobile Patrol 2550 conducted an ocular inspection at the scene following a report dispatched by duty radio operator PCpl Mejoras.
The impact damaged both the concrete barrier and the utility pole, with repair costs yet to be determined by authorities and Davao Light officials.
Traffic investigators issued the driver with a temporary operator’s permit (TOP No. 23214777-5) as further investigation into the incident continues.
