THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) spearheaded a security coordination meeting with mall supervisors and business owners on Sept. 23 at Yukiss Restaurant Café along Asucena Street, Mintal.
DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria led the dialogue, joined by PMAJ Niel Vistar, station commander of Police Station 9-Tugbok; PLTCOL Mark Balbuena, chief of City Operations Management Unit; and PMAJ Bienvenido Cuison Jr., deputy chief of City Investigation and Detection Management Unit.
The meeting brought together management representatives and supervisors from Vista Mall, Davao Kumon, Lots for Less, TriPif N, Astro Shoppers Plaza, and Gaisano Capital Mintal, among others.
The primary agenda centered on tightening collaborative frameworks between law enforcement and the private sector to pre-empt property crimes, neutralize potential security vulnerabilities, and establish unified emergency response measures.
Madria stressed the critical need for operational uniformity when handling security threats. He urged business owners and security heads to move away from relying solely on social media for incident reporting, emphasizing the importance of direct, real-time coordination with the DCPO.
To fortify commercial perimeters, Madria said they will deploy additional security personnel to mall properties and surrounding vicinities. However, establishments must also install or upgrade their CCTV systems.
Both police commanders and commercial stakeholders closed the session by expressing mutual appreciation for the open dialogue, solidifying a unified, proactive commitment to maintaining peace, order, and public safety throughout Davao City’s commercial districts.
