AUTHORITIES have summoned the parents of 11 minors and one adult following a late-night riot along Quimpo Boulevard earlier this week, emphasizing parental accountability under the city’s curfew laws.

The incident, which occurred at approximately midnight on April 22, prompted an intervention conference on Thursday afternoon at the San Pedro Police Station.

The meeting was led by station commander Major Edison G. Fiesta, Cpl Cristine Joy P. Empil, and two social workers.

During the conference, officials addressed the 12 individuals involved, as well as their respective parents and guardians, regarding the gravity of the street disturbance and the violation of Davao City Ordinance No. 000084-71.

The “Curfew Ordinance for Minors” strictly prohibits individuals under 18 from being in public places between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., unless accompanied by a legal guardian.

“The conference was conducted to remind parents and guardians of their duty to discipline their children,” DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Caballero said.

Authorities warned that under the ordinance, parents can be held legally responsible if they knowingly allow or fail to prevent their children from violating curfew hours. She said they may face legal sanctions or mandatory government interventions.

The DCPO confirmed that “action photos” were documented during the conference to serve as a record of the intervention and the formal warning issued to the families involved.
