THE REGIONAL Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) XI reported that the Ulas Viaduct requires P210 million to finish the remaining civil works.
This was noted following the RPMC XI physical site visits on February 12–13, 2026, at the project.
While 78.6% of the funded sections are already completed, the right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation remain as major challenges, prompting a request for an additional PhP 210 million.
“Previous funding requests for the project over the past three years were not approved in the General Appropriations Act,” RPMC XI said in a press release.
On the other hand, significant structural milestones, including footing, column, and coping concrete pours, have been completed.
The construction of the P3.3-billion viaduct, including gutters, a flyover, sidewalk, and drainage structure, started in February 2021.
The junction of Davao-Bukidnon Road and the National Highway to the junction of Davao-Bukidnon Road and Talomo-Puan Bypass Road has been closed since its construction.
The project runs along the junction of Davao -Bukidnon Road and the national highway, and the junction of Davao-Bukidnon Road and Talomo-Puan Bypass Road.
Third district councilor Alberto Ungab said in an interview in September 2025 that the roads of Davao-Bukidnon up to the junction of Davao-Cotabato (Crossing Ulas) will be open to traffic in December 2025.
“This is a highway; you cannot close a highway for how many years. You cannot even close it for a year,” Ungab said.
DPWH officials were summoned by the 20th City Council last April 30, 2024, where a project engineer for the Ulas Viaduct said delays are attributed to unrelocated poles of Davao Light and water lines of Davao City Water District.
