MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte’s public ratings saw a significant decline in the latest PAHAYAG 2025 Second Quarter Survey (PQ2-2025).

Her approval rating dropped from 42% to 36%, while her trust rating fell from 39% to 33%. Correspondingly, her disapproval rating rose from 37% to 42%, and her distrust rating increased from 39% to 43%.

The downturn in public sentiment appears to be largely influenced by the Vice President’s impeachment proceedings and the International Criminal Court (ICC) case against her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte. While public attention on the ICC case has lessened, focus has shifted to VP Sara’s current legal and political challenges.

Regional sentiment played a major role in the downturn. Notably, the VP’s Mindanao trust and approval ratings sharply declined, erasing past two-quarter gains to 2024 levels (approval: 76% to 63%; trust: 73% to 58%). North-Central Luzon also saw an approval decline (32% to 25%), contributing to the national downturn.

Despite these setbacks, VP Sara Duterte continues to be recognized by many Filipinos for her personal qualities. When asked about her defining traits, respondents identified her as Brave (46%),  Concerned for Filipinos (29%), and Loving the Philippines (28%).

PQ2-2025 is an independent, non-commissioned nationwide purposive sampling survey conducted from June 27 to 30, 2025, comprising 1,500 respondents who are registered Filipino voters, randomly selected from the market research panel of PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with global operations and a regional office in Singapore.
