THE LAND Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) XI revealed that Green GSM Taxi has officially submitted its local business and mayor’s permit, clearing up questions surrounding the fleet’s operational status in the city.
The clarification from the LTFRB XI administrative office comes as more of the distinctive electric vehicles (EVs) have been spotted picking up passengers across Davao City’s major thoroughfares.
“GSM has presented a business and mayor’s permit to LTFRB XI. A new Provisional Authority was already issued by the LTFRB Central Office in April 2026 for 596 EV units,” LTFRB XI said in a statement sent to the TIMES.
Controversy and local permits
Green GSM Taxi electric taxis have been spotted on the streets of Davao City, already providing service to passengers more than six months after they were first announced and arrived in the city.
It can be remembered that the said company faced obstacles for months.
On Dec. 16, 2025, the City Government of Davao issued an order stating that GSM did not get a recommendation from the City Transport and Traffic Management Board (CTTMB) and the Sangguniang Panlungsod for some franchise applications in the LTFRB.
This is in accordance with the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code Ordinance of Davao City (Ordinance No. 0334-12), which mandates that local approval is required before any public utility vehicle (PUV) can travel in the city.
But recently, the company happily announced through its official Facebook page: “It’s official, we’re on the road!”
The management at Green GSM Taxi also assured that they are ready to provide eco-friendly, quality, and excellent service for all their potential customers in Davao.
