THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Davao has distributed over P5.23 billion under Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) and Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) in 2025.
Gemma Dela Cruz, DSWD Protective Services Division chief, announced on Friday during Kapihan sa PIA, emphasizing the agency’s responsive services for crisis intervention for those in need.
“Pinaagi sa atong mga programa ug serbisyo ubos sa Protective Services Division (PSD) ang padayon nato nga partnership, mapadayon nato nga mapalambo ang atong serbisyo ug pagtabang sa mas daghan pa nga komunidad sa tibouk rehiyon (Through our Protective Services Division and continued partnerships, we can continue to enhance our services and assistance to even more communities in the region),” Dela Cruz said.
The disbursed AKAP fund reached P1.33 billion, and P3.89 billion was distributed from the AICS fund.
Of the AKAP assistance, a total of P575 million benefited 140,302 individuals, and a medical assistance worth P567 million was provided to 58,418 individuals.
Moreover, a total of 8,963 were given funeral assistance amounting to P182 million, and 1,508 individuals received cash relief totaling P9.49 million.
Of the AICS assistance, 687,145 received food assistance (P2.7 billion); 82,515 were assisted for medical concerns (P854 million); and 12,552 benefited from funeral assistance (P268 million).
Additionally, under AICS, a total of 1,757 benefited from educational assistance (P9.2 million); 42 received transportation assistance (P213,300); 989 received cash assistance (P5.6 million), and 18 received family food packs amounting to P15,300.
DSWD confirmed the AICS will serve the clients of the now-defunded AKAP under the AICS budget allocation of P63.8 billion for the year 2026.
The social protection programs of DSWD have received budget increases in the 2026 General Appropriations Act, with the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps), the anti-poverty progra,m getting a share of P113 billion from the total budget of 264.45 billion.
The AICS is among the social welfare services of the DSWD that provides medical assistance, burial, transportation, education, food, or financial assistance for other support services or needs of a person or family.
It is intended for individuals and families determined to be in a “state of active crisis” or “crisis situation” or needing financial or material support from the national government.
Meanwhile, AKAP is a program providing social assistance and a safety net for minimum wage earners and low-income earners who are made more vulnerable by rising inflation.
